r
. ' . '
. COUNCIL MEMORANDUM
No. 93-18
March 25, 1993
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
/
FROM: James C. Ban, Jr. , City Manager
RE: IMRF Credits for Out-of-State Service
The Illinois Pension Code permits municipal employees, under
certain circumstances and with Council approval, to use service
time for an out-of-state governmental unit to be credited toward
an Illinois pension. The employee must have irrevocably
forfeited all rights to benefits in the prior, out-of-state
pension system, and the employee must further make a payment or
contribution for such prior service to the Illinois Municipal
Retirement Fund.
David Clark has fifteen months of prior service with the I
State of New York. He also has 6 years 10 months of IMRF service
to the City. Permitting him to exercise this pension option will j
allow him to become fully vested in IMRF and I support this I
request. I
JCB:ps
