JI <br /> �O MACON COUNTY,ILLINOIS <br /> � ijb� ..�,�. <br /> 253 EAST WOOD STREET , <br /> DECATUR,ILLINOIS 62523 <br /> ��'//�//_''//—��/O/� <br /> October 25, 1991 <br /> Honorable Gary Anderson <br /> Mayor, City of Decatur, Illinois <br /> #1 Civic Center Plaza <br /> Decatur, Illinois 62523-1196 <br /> RE: Real estate formally occupied by <br /> Macon County Health Department <br /> Mr. Mayor: <br /> When the Macon County Health Department required new quarters <br /> in 1964 a contract was entered into between the City of Decatur and <br /> the County of Macon, pursuant to which the County purchased, for <br /> the sum of $70, 000. 00 (seventy thousand dollars) , the real estate <br /> located at 1085 South Main Street, Decatur, Illinois and further <br /> described as follows: <br /> "Lots 5 and 6 of the sub-division of lot 8 of the NE <br /> quarter of the NE quarter of Section 22 , Township 16 <br /> North, range 2 East of the 3rd PM, as per plat recorded <br /> in Book 149, page 355 of the records in the Recorder's <br /> Office of Macon County, Illinois. " <br /> The building was formally known as the Water Distribution Building <br /> in the City of Decatur. <br /> The County is now contemplating a possible sale of the <br /> property. Upon searching the County Records we have found on file <br /> a copy of the Ordinance of the City authorizing the sale and the <br /> copy of the contract of sale entered into by the parties, together <br /> with a copy of the appropriate resolution of the Macon County Board <br /> for purchase of the property. We have been unable to find any copy <br /> of the deed transferring the real estate from the City of Decatur <br /> to the County of Macon. <br /> Health department personnel have also conducted a search of <br /> their records, without success. No doubt, there is an original <br /> deed dated in late 1964 or early 1965 for the transfer of this real <br /> estate which was placed in some file instead of being recorded and <br />
