;The open door to new opportunities and services for seniors.
11 1 1 ' '  1=7,q ;
138 East Prairie Ave., Decatur, Illinois 62523 217-429-1239
October 3 , 1991
Mr . David Clark
Dept. of Community Development
#1 Civic Center Plaza
Decatur, IL 62523
Dear Dave :
As you are aware, the Downtown Senior Center has for sometime
been investigating relocating the Center to a larger facility so
that we can offer more opportunities for senior citizens to
participate in services , programs and activities to enhance the
quality of their lives .
I propose that the City of Decatur make a donation to the
Downtown Senior Center of the soon to be city owned old Woolworth
building . This donation would accomplish several things for our,
the downtown as well as , senior citizens ;
1 . bring more seniors to the downtown area and thus increase
the number of dollars being spent in the downtown area ;
2 . an excellent public relations opportunity for the City
of Decatur ( especially at a time when an increased
positive public image for the city could be very
beneficial ) ;
3 . an opportunity for senior citizens to be in a much deserved
"new, large & beautiful " location and facility.
Sincerely,
Glenda G. rown , M. S . W. , L . S . W.
Executive Director
GGB : dmy
The Downtown Senior Center does not discriminate in admission to programs or treatment of employment in programs in compliance with the Illinois Human Rights
Act,the U.S.Civil Rights Act,Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act,the Age Discrimination Act,the Age Discrimination in Employment Act,and the U.S.and Illinois
Constitutions. If you feel you have been discriminated against, you have a right to file a complaint with the Illinois Department on Aging,(for information call,
1-800-252-8968)or the Director of the Downtown Senior Center at 217-429•1239.
