BACON, JR. , CITY MANAGER
DAVID A. CLARK, DIRECTOR OF DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT
ROBERT S. REED, MASS TRANSIT ADMINISTRATOR
SUBJECT: UMTA CAPITAL GRANT APPLICATION
Upon City Council approval, the attached resolution will
authorize the filing of a mass transit capital grant application
with the U. S. Department of Transportation, Urban Mass Transpor-
tation Administration. The application will request $164,696 in
Section 9B funds to be used for the existing mass transit facili-
ty project. Due to a change in sites for the facility, the
architect has estimated higher costs for demolition and site
work.
In addition, the City is included in a State application for
Section 3 funds to purchase new buses. Before the Section 3
funds can be obtained, the City has to use all available Section
9B funds. Therefore, the application here before the Council will
utilize all of Decatur's Section 9B funds. Some $26,598 is
carryover money from FY' 88, $28, 535 from FY'89, $28,342 from
FY' 90, and $81,221 from FY'91 . The FY' 88 funds would lapse and
be de-obligated if not applied for at this time.
The State of Illinois is expected to provide $41 ,174 in
matching funds. No local contribution will be required.
