� <br /> . ' <br /> � . - <br /> Through the funds provided and community support, the Agency has <br /> been able to provide a variety of programs and services throughout the <br /> community. Currently these services include : The Residental Energy <br />' Assistance Program; the Home Weatherization Assistance Program; the <br /> Anna Waters Head Start Center; the Longview Day Care Center ; the <br /> Senior Nutrition Program; Senior Transportation Services; FEMA - Rent <br /> Assistance ; the Emergency Food and Shelter Program for the Homeless; <br /> the Emergency Community Services Block Grant; the VISTA Volunteer <br /> Program and the Community Services Block Grant. <br /> Several of the programs listed above are used to provide services <br /> to the homeless population of Macon County. Through the FEMA - Rent <br /> Assistance program, one month' s rent is paid on behalf of low-income <br /> families. Through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program for the <br /> Homeless, shelter is provided for low-income homeless families, one <br /> month' s rent assistance is available, and meals are provided for the <br /> families being sheltered. Through this program, shelter in the motel <br /> is paid or if the Emergency House is used, the program provides $10 <br /> per night which is used to help cover the upkeep of the house at 960 <br />� North Jordan. <br /> Through the Emergency Community Services Block Grant, shelter is <br /> provided for low-income homeless families to stay in a local motel , <br /> one month' s rent assistance is available, and incidental expenses <br /> ( such as groceries, perscriptions, toiletries, laundramat services, <br /> bus tickets ) can be provided for. Through the Community Services <br /> Block Grant, general counseling and information and referral is <br /> provided. CSBG also provides for the operational cost of the current <br /> Emergency House located at 960 North Jordan Street. <br /> During 1989, the Housing/Homeless programs operated by DMCOC <br /> served 519 unduplicated families ( 1726 family members) . Many received <br /> more that one of the services liste�c above . However, no family <br /> recieved rent assistance more than once during the year . Every family <br /> served had income below the CSBG low-income guidelines . The average <br /> length of stay in shelter per family is 10 . 9 days, based on an overall <br /> total of shelter nights provided per fami�y since 1985. <br /> , Although many of these services appear to be the same, due to <br /> funding cycles and availablity of funds, the Agency usually has <br /> expended one allocation before another is available . During 1989, <br /> DMCOC had $94 , 414 available for �housing/homeless related services . <br /> -12b- <br />
