AGREEMENT <br /> THIS AGREEMENT made this 6th day of August, 1990 by and <br /> between the CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS, hereinafter called the <br /> "CITY" and JAMES C. BACON, JR. , hereinafter called the <br /> "EMPLOYEE" . <br /> WITNESSETH THAT; <br /> WHEREAS, the City desires to hire the Employee as its City <br /> Manager for the period and upon the terms hereinafter set forth; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Employee desires to serve the City as its City <br /> Manager for the same period and upon the same terms: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the promises hereinafter <br /> exchanged, the parties agree as follows: <br /> 1 . ) PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT. This Agreement shall be <br /> effective as of October 1 , 1988 and expires September 30 , 1993 , <br /> unless it is terminated earlier pursuant to the provisions of <br /> Sections 14 or 15 hereinbelow. <br /> 2 . ) EMPLOYEE'S DUTIES. During the period of employment <br /> herein described, the Employee shall perform the duties of City <br /> Manager as set out in the applicable statutes of the State of <br /> Illinois, and all ordinances lawfully enacted pursuant thereto, <br /> and such other duties as the Council of the City of Decatur, <br /> Illinois, may lawfully assign to the Employee. <br /> 3 . ) HOURS OF WORK. The parties realize that the position <br /> of City Manager requires the person holding such position to work <br /> many weekends , evenings and other irregular hours at many <br /> locations other than the City' s administrative offices located in <br />
