, , , <br /> , <br /> RESUME <br /> ' COSTIS TOREGAS <br /> ' President, Public Technology, Inc. <br /> , Since 1971, Dr. Costis Toregas has been active nationally and <br /> internationally in providing assistance to local government officials in <br /> fire management and resource allocation. Under his direction and guidance, <br /> � the Fire Station Location Package (FSLP) was developed as the first <br /> computer-based system to enable cities and counties to objectively identify <br /> the number and location of stations needed to provide optimal suppression <br /> , coverage. Using the same methodology, the Fire Master system was then <br /> developed to best locate equipment and firefighters based on existing <br /> hazards within the community. <br /> � Achievements include the elimination of the intrusive and arbitrary <br /> system (the Grading Schedule) used by the insurance industry and its <br /> substitution with a results-oriented, actuarial system for establishing <br /> ' fire insurance rates; directing over 100 major jurisdictions in the United <br /> States and Canada in the use of new management approaches and <br /> computer-based tools such as the FSLP, Fire Master, computer-aided <br /> , dispatch, and other public safety commuication technologies. <br /> Dr. Toregas has written extensively in the area of fire service <br /> management.
