R g � -- � a � RESOLUTION AUI'HORIZING Tf� FILING OF A FINAL APPLICATIdN WITH THE iJDTITED STATES DEPA��IMENT OF TRANSPORTATION 7.�UGH Tf� STATE OF ILLINOIS DEPAR�N'r OF TRANSPORTATION FOR AN ALTEFQ�TIVE FUELS INITIATIVE PFiOGRAM �RANT UNDER S�CTION 3 OF THE URBAN MASS TRP,NSPORTATION ACT OF 1964, AS ANJ�'NDID WHEREAS, the Secretary of the United States Department of Transportation is authorized to make grants for a mass transportation program of projects; �► WHEFtEAS, the contract for Federal financial assistance will impose certain obligations upon the applicant and the Illinois Department of Trans- portation, including the pravision by it of the local share of project costs and other obligations required by the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, (the "Act") and all other requir�nents as set forth in the Guide- lines for Project Develognent for Section 3 F�inds and all other guidelines and regulations issued or to be issued under the Act; and, w�REAS, it is required by the United States Depart�ent of Transportation in acaord with the pravisions of Tit1e VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, ' that in connection with the filing of an application for assistance under the ' Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as Amended, the applicant give an assurance that it wi11 comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the United States Departrnent of Transportation requirement thereunder. Wf�REAS, it is the goal of the Applicant that minority business enter- prises be utilized to the fullest extent possible in connection with the project, and that definite procedures shall be established and acfiiinistexed to ensure that minority businesses shall have the maxinnun feasible opportunity to co�npete for contracts when procuring construction contracts, supplies, equig- ment contracts, or consultant aryd other services; NdW, Tf�E2EF'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF Tf� CITY OF DEICATUR, rr.r,nJnIS; Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to execute and file an application on behalf of the City of Decatur, Illinois, with the United Sta.tes Departrnent of Transportation through the Illinois Department of Transportation for a grant under Section 3 of the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, for an alternative fuels initiative project.
