R g � -- � a � <br /> RESOLUTION AUI'HORIZING Tf� FILING OF A FINAL <br /> APPLICATIdN WITH THE iJDTITED STATES DEPA��IMENT <br /> OF TRANSPORTATION 7.�UGH Tf� STATE OF ILLINOIS <br /> DEPAR�N'r OF TRANSPORTATION FOR AN ALTEFQ�TIVE FUELS <br /> INITIATIVE PFiOGRAM �RANT UNDER S�CTION 3 OF THE <br /> URBAN MASS TRP,NSPORTATION ACT OF 1964, AS ANJ�'NDID <br /> WHEREAS, the Secretary of the United States Department of Transportation <br /> is authorized to make grants for a mass transportation program of projects; <br /> �► <br /> WHEFtEAS, the contract for Federal financial assistance will impose <br /> certain obligations upon the applicant and the Illinois Department of Trans- <br /> portation, including the pravision by it of the local share of project costs <br /> and other obligations required by the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, <br /> as amended, (the "Act") and all other requir�nents as set forth in the Guide- <br /> lines for Project Develognent for Section 3 F�inds and all other guidelines and <br /> regulations issued or to be issued under the Act; and, <br /> w�REAS, it is required by the United States Depart�ent of Transportation <br /> in acaord with the pravisions of Tit1e VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, ' <br /> that in connection with the filing of an application for assistance under the ' <br /> Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as Amended, the applicant give an <br /> assurance that it wi11 comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 <br /> and the United States Departrnent of Transportation requirement thereunder. <br /> Wf�REAS, it is the goal of the Applicant that minority business enter- <br /> prises be utilized to the fullest extent possible in connection with the <br /> project, and that definite procedures shall be established and acfiiinistexed to <br /> ensure that minority businesses shall have the maxinnun feasible opportunity to <br /> co�npete for contracts when procuring construction contracts, supplies, equig- <br /> ment contracts, or consultant aryd other services; <br /> NdW, Tf�E2EF'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF Tf� CITY OF DEICATUR, <br /> rr.r,nJnIS; <br /> Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to execute and file an <br /> application on behalf of the City of Decatur, Illinois, with the United Sta.tes <br /> Departrnent of Transportation through the Illinois Department of Transportation <br /> for a grant under Section 3 of the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as <br /> amended, for an alternative fuels initiative project. <br />
