REED, MASS TRANSIT COORDINATOR <br /> SUBJECT: RFP FOR MANAGEMENT OF DPTS <br /> Upon City Council approval, the attached resolution will <br /> authorize the issuance of a Request for Proposals for management <br /> of the Decatur Public Transit System. The selected firm will be <br /> responsible for providing management and supervisory services <br /> necessary for the daily operation of the transit system. The <br /> management company is the employer of all transit employees and <br /> it is responsible for handling employee grievances and for <br /> conducting labor negotiations with the Union. The contract <br /> requires the management firm to provide a resident manager and <br /> central staff support as needed. <br /> The current contract expires on July 1 , 1989 and the new <br /> contract will be for a 1-year period. The City is currently <br /> paying $53,650 annually for management services. <br /> In the past, there have always been 4 firms who submitted <br /> proposals for the City' s consideration. Bid opening is scheduled <br /> for June 21 , 1989 and a final decision on selection of a firm <br /> should be made before July lst. <br />
