, . . ,
City Plan Commission Meeting of September 2, 1993
Cal. No. 93-53 Petition of WLCAN MATERIALS COMPANY to amend
and expand a special use permit granted by
Ordinance #5991 and subsequently amended to
allow extraction of sand and gravel on tracts
of land generally located north of the 900
block Southside Drive and west of the 1100
block South Monroe Street.
The petitioner was not present.
Mr. McQueen stated that the petitioner was unable to attend this
meeting; however, a request was made for the Plan Commission to
take action. This petition was reviewed last month to
accommodate expansion of the mining operation to within 50 feet
of the west property line and to include an area now occupied by
a sludge lagoon owned by the City of Decatur. Also, the scale
station and access road would be relocated along the south side
of the property.
Due to an error in the original legal description, it is
necessary to conduct the subject hearing. The proposed amendment
and supporting exhibits are the same as those reviewed and
approved last month.
Staff recommends approval of the petition as presented.
There were no objectors present. ,
It was moved and seconded (Kaptain/Gruenewald) and approved that I,I
Cal. No. 93-53 be forwarded to City Council with recommendation ,
for approval. Motion carried unanimously.
