Petition for Zoning Ordinance Amendment . <br /> June 24, 1993 <br /> TO: Mayor Erik C. Brechnitz <br /> City Council <br /> City Plan Commission <br /> I, George C. Weaver, Acting Director of Community Development, <br /> hereby request amendment to Section II. 76. (Historic <br /> Neighborhood Use) of the Zoning Ordinance (Ord. #3512) which <br /> presently reads as follows: <br /> 76. Historic Neighborhood Use: A use of land in the <br /> Decatur Historic District as established by <br /> Ordinance No. 78-159 that, with appropriate ' <br /> controls and under specific conditions, is <br /> consistent with and preserves the essential <br /> character and nature of the surrounding <br /> neighborhood, but which is not listed herein <br /> as a permitted use in the particular zoning <br /> district applicable to and underlying such land. <br /> As amended, said Section II. 76. would read as follows: <br /> 76. Historic Neighborhood Use: A use of land in <br /> the Decatur Historic District or an identified <br /> Historic and Architectural Land Mark as <br /> established by Ordinance No. 78-159 that, with <br /> appropriate controls and under specific conditions, <br /> is consistent with and preserves the essential <br /> character and nature of the surrounding <br /> neighborhood, but which is not listed herein <br /> as a permitted use in the particular zoning <br /> district applicable to and underlying such land. <br /> The purpose of the proposed amendment is to enable all existing <br /> historical sites as identified by Ord. 78-159 to be eligible for <br /> development under provisions of an Historic Neighborhood Use as <br /> set forth in the Zoning Ordinance; the existing regulations <br /> provide for such use only within the Decatur Historic District <br /> (area bound by Eldorado Street, Oakland Avenue, Lincoln Park <br /> Drive, and Church Street) .
