 , ,
EXCERPTS FROM
TRAFFIC & PARKING COMMITTEE MEETING '
NOVEMBER 13 , 1991
ITEM 1 Request for stop signs as reported by various
Neighborhood Watch Groups to Laura Guy of the Safety
Services Prevention and Education Division.
lA. Request to replace existing yield signs with stop
signs at Pine Street and Packard Street.
Ms. Guy stated that the neighborhood felt that the high
rate of speed warranted a four-way stop at that intersection,
but that she would go along with whatever staff recommended.
She further stated that the neighborhood reported that the
yield sign was constantly being disobeyed and that there
were numerous children in the area. The neighborhood
concern was to get something to slow down the traffic.
Chris Herring stated that he felt that stop signs would
slow the traffic down.
Mr. Swartz said that he felt there was no large traffic
count in the area and that the City had too many stop signs
as it is.
Mr. Newell stated that stop signs would not change
speeds in any neighborhood.
Mr. Herring moved that the staff recommendation be
accepted and that stop signs be installed to replace
existing yield signs. Bryan Curlin seconded the motion and
it was unanimously carried.
