_ � <br /> .` � _� <br /> CHAPTER 66 <br /> - Additions and Be�e�ien� - <br /> 17. <br /> (n) Racing of Mete�-d�ri=aen a� boats is hereby prohibited <br /> except for special events and in no event without a permit from <br /> the Lake Manager or his authorized agent. <br /> (AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 90-50, April 16, 1990) <br /> (s) Al1 boats or crafts with an internal combustion engine <br /> or motor shall be subject to a f3�re--{�-j--nrrl�-per-i�ot�� no wake <br /> speed limit between the hours of Midnight and one-half hour <br /> before sunrise, provided that this section shall not apply to <br /> official patrol or rescue craft. <br /> (t) No motorboat shall be equipped with any motor or other <br /> propulsion machinery beyond its safe power capacity and safe <br /> carryinct capacitv, taking into consideration the type and <br /> construction of such motorboat and other existing operating <br /> conditions. <br /> Iu) It is unlawful to operate a motorboat without a mouth, <br /> hand or t�ower operated whi.stle, horn or other appliance, capable <br /> of producina a blast of two seconds or more duration and audible <br /> for at least one-half mile. <br /> �v) Carburetors on all enqines of motorboats other than <br /> . those propelled by a detachable outboard motor shall be fitted <br /> with or protected by a U. S. Coast Guard approved device for <br /> arrestinq backfire. <br /> (w) Except for open boats, all motorboats which use fuel <br /> havinct a flashpoint of 110 degrees Fahrenheit or less shall have <br /> at least two ventilator ducts fitted with cowls or their <br /> equiva�ent, for the efficient removal of explosives or flammable <br /> gases from the bilctes of every engine and fuel tank compartment. <br /> There shall be at least one exhaust duct installed so as to <br /> extend from the open atmosphere to the lower portion of the bilcte <br /> and at least midwav to the bilqe or at least below the level of <br /> the carburetor air intake. The cowls shall be located and <br /> trimmed for maximum effectiveness and in such a manner so as to <br /> prevent displaced fumes from beinq recirculated. <br /> jx) Everv motorboat equipped with 'storacre batteries shall <br /> be provided with suitable supports and secured aaainst shiftincr <br /> with the motion of the boat. Such storacte batteries shall be <br /> eQuipped with non-conductive shieldinq means to prevent <br /> accidental shortinq of battery terminals. <br /> 19. BOAT LICENSIIRE AND REGISTRATION. <br /> A. No boat or craft of any kind shall be kept or used on or <br /> in Lake Decatur, by the current owner, at any time unless the <br /> same is registered and currently licensed by the City of Decatur, <br />
