ORDINANCE N0. � � � ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING LAND ACQUISITION - TRANSIT GARAGE - - CITY PROJECT 8715 - WHEREAS, the City of Decatur, Illinois, owns a fleet of buses and operates, by contract, a public transit system, providing bus transportation for the citizens of said City; and, WHEREAS, said buses require maintenance and repair; and, WHEREAS, a transit facility and garage is necessary for the repair and maintenance of said buses, and for the operation of said transit system generally; and, WHEREAS, the Council of said City intends to replace the current transit facility and garage, which current facility is outdated, undersized and inadequate, with a new facility better suited and located to serve the needs and fulfill the mission of said public transit system; and, WHEREAS, the premises commonly known as 88 Industry Court and more fully described in Exhibit A, which Exhibit A is hereto attached and hereby made a part hereof, are suitable and desirable for the location and construction of such transit facility and garage; and, WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that said lands be acquired for the purpose aforesaid. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: Section 1 . That it is, and it is hereby determined to be, necessary and desirable that the City, in order to locate and construct the transit facility and garage herein described, acquire title to the real property described in Exhibit A hereto. Section 2 . That it is hereby determined that the aforesaid real property and the acquisition thereof is necessary for a public use and purpose. Section 3 . That the City Manager and the Corporation Counsel , jointly and severally, be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to cause said real property to be acquired on behalf of the City, and in the event the same is not able to be acquired by agreement with the owner or owners thereof
