CHAPTER 45 <br /> ALARM SYSTEMS <br /> 1 . DEFINITIONS. For the purposes of this Chapter, unless <br /> context clearly indicates otherwise, the following words and <br /> terms are defined as follows: <br /> (a) Alarm: an audible, mechanical or electrical signal <br /> from an alarm system which indicates the system has detected a <br /> disturbance it was designed or programmed to warn about. <br /> (b) Alarm System: a device or assembly of equipment which <br /> is designed or functions to provide an alarm upon detection of a <br /> disturbance it was designed or programmed to warn about. <br /> (c) Alarm User: any person or entity owning, possessing or <br /> in control of premises wherein an alarm system is maintained. <br /> (d) Automatic Dialing Device: a device programmed to <br /> transmit by telephone line an alarm to a telephone number <br /> selected in advance. <br /> (e) False Alarm: transmission of an alarm indicating need <br /> of an emergency response in instances where an emergency does <br /> not, in fact, exist. <br /> (f) Alarm Answering Point: a facility operated and <br /> maintained at a place, other than within the police facility of <br /> the City, wherein alarm systems terminate and alarms are <br /> initially answered. <br /> 2 . APPROVED ALARM SYSTEM. No alarm system other than an <br /> automatic dialing device shall be installed, maintained or <br /> operated so as to directly transmit an alarm to the central <br /> communications facility of the City. <br /> 3 . GOOD WORKING ORDER. <br /> A. Any alarm system so installed or operated as to communi- <br /> cate an alarm to the central communications facility shall be <br /> maintained in good working order and so as not to generate false <br /> alarms due to system defect or malfunctions. <br />
