COUNCIL MEMORANDUM
#87-98
September 16 , 1987
TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: Leslie T. Allen, City Manager
RE: Ordinance Amending City Code Chapter 5 - Officers and
Employees Generally
An ordinance amending Section 2 , Chapter 5 of the City Code
has been placed on the agenda for Monday, September 21.
The primary purpose of this amendment is to eliminate the
position of auditor from the exempt positions and to add the
position of tax supervisor/auditor.
The responsibilities of the auditor will be expanded to
include the responsibility for supervising the collection of the
local sales tax and the hotel and motel tax and for accounting
for the same.
The person holding this position will supervise two
accounting assistants who will assist the tax supervisor/auditor
with tax collection. They will also be responsible for assisting
with internal and external audits.
While revising Section 2 , we eliminated a number of
positions that are listed in Section 2 that actually serve as
division heads . Since division heads were already listed as
exempt positions , listing of these positions was a duplication
that was unnecessary.
I recommend your approval of this ordinance.
Attachment
