ORDINANCE NO. 87-74 � ,�s 19e� -� Y�coraea m v��249 ,.e�a390 ORDINANCE VACATING PORTION OF STREET �� AND PORTION OF ALLEY ' DECATUR HOUSING AUTHORITY F�89^+�� . �nrr�{�r n{ �AAd^ WHEREAS, a petition has been received from the Decatur Housing Authority, being the owner of all property abutting thereon, requesting vacation of a portion of that certain street in the City of Decatur, Illinois, commonly known as East Orchard Street, and further requesting vacation of a portion of an alley located between North Calhoun Street and North Illinois Street , said portion of said street and alley being more particul�rly described as : Beginning at a point on the Southeast corner of Lot 13 in Block 17 of Carver' s Addition as per Plat recorded in Book T Page 238 of the records in the Recorder' s Office of Macon County, Illinois; thence South to the North Right-of-Way line of East Orchard Street thence West to the Southwest corner of Lot 9 , Block 17 of said Carver' s Addition, thence South to the South Right-of- Way line of East Orchard Street , also known as the Northwest corner of Lot 18, Block 20 of said Carver' s Addition, thence East to the West Right-of-Way line of North Illinois Street , also known as the Northeast corner of Lot 1 Block 20 of said Carver' s Addition, _ thence North to the North Right-of-Way line of East Orchard Street , also known as the Southeast corner of Lot 8 Block 17 of said Carver' s Addition, thence West to the Southwest corner of said Lot 8 , Block 17 , thence North to the Northwest corner of Lot 5 , Block 17 of said Carver' s Addition, thence West 14 feet to the point of beginning; and, WHEREAS, the Decatur City Plan Commission held a public hearing upon said petition on June 4 , 1987 and did thereafter recommend to the Council that the prayer of said petition be granted and said portions of said street and alley be vacated as requested; and, WHEREAS, said portions of said street and alley are no longer useful to the public or to the City or to the owners of property abutting thereon and the public interest will be subserved by vacating said portions of said street and alley and the public will be relieved from any further burden or responsibility for opening, improving or maintaining said portion of said street and alley.
