5. Petitioner does not own property adjacent to the prop- <br /> erty for which approval of and permit is sought for the use <br /> described above. <br /> 6. The purpose for the Application is: The property <br /> described is presently being used for bulk storage of refined <br /> petroleum products for distribution. Leihser Oil Co. , peti- <br /> tioner, desires to continue the present use heretofore described <br /> as well as use the property for bulk storage of propane for dis- <br /> tribution. <br /> 7. In support of this' Application, petitioner hereby <br /> submits to the City Council the following facts: <br /> (a) The property described above has been continuously <br /> used since in or about 1973 for the bulk storage of refined <br /> petroleum products for distribution. <br /> (�) The petitioner, L�ihser Oil Co. , has been in the busi- � <br /> ness of distribution of petroleum products, including gaso- <br /> line, propane, diesel fuel, fuel oil and industrial oils <br /> in the City of Decatur for the past 40 years; that Richard <br /> N. Leihser, the sole stockholder, director and President <br /> of Leihser Oil Co. has been connected with said business <br /> for the past 39 years. <br /> (c) That the main location of the business of your peti- <br /> tioner is at 2345 E. Garfield in the City of Decatur and <br /> your Petitioner is in need of additional real estate upon <br /> whieh to conduct its propane business. That your Petitioner <br /> desires to locate its propane distribution cent�r on the <br /> property described above and use said premises for the use <br /> which is presently being made of said property, namely, <br /> the bulk storage of refined petroleum products for distribu- <br /> tion. The propane would be stored in two 18,000 gallon <br /> tanks; that the proposed location of said tanks is as shown <br /> on Exhibit A attached hereto and made a part hereof. <br /> (d) Immediately adjacent on the East of the property is <br /> a large tract of real estate used for an auto parts and <br /> salvage yard for motor vehicles. All property surrounding <br /> the real estate described above is zoned M-2, Heavy Indus- <br /> trial District. Property across the road to the subject <br /> property on the North is vacant; property adjacent to the <br /> subject property on the West and the South are truck term- <br /> inals and a steel sales and fabricating plant. <br /> -2- <br />
