 PETITION FOR SPECIAL USE PERMIT
T0: The Mayor and City Council
Members of the City Plan Commission
Decatur, Illinois
The undersigned, Robert Menzies , Acting Director of the
Department of Community Development , hereby requests a special
use permit to allow the City of Decatur to construct, operate,
and maintain a water treatment plant on a tract of land generally
located west of South Broadway Street between Marion and Garrison
Streets . Said tract is legally described as follows :
Blocks One ( 1) and Two (2 ) of Leforgee and
Pattersons Addition as per Plat recorded in
Book 22, Page 564 of the Records in the
Recorder's Office of Macon County, Illinois ;
and also all streets and public ways therein
or next and adjacent thereto.
In accordance with Section XXI .A. ( i) of the Zoning Ordinance
(Ord. 3512 ) , the City Council may grant a special permit in any
zoning district for any public or government building or
structure . Inasmuch as the subject property is zoned R-5 Two
Family Residential, and the adjoining areas are zoned R-5 Two
Family or R-6 Multiple Dwelling, staff is of the opinion that a
special use permit is the appropriate zoning action to
accommodate the proposed water treatment plant .
Respectfully submitted,
o02
Robert R. Menzies
Acting Director
Dept . of Community Development
