ORDINANCE NO. $—�, n AN ORDINANCE N�AKING THE ANNUAL TAX LEVY FOR THE CITY OF DECATUR FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1983 - 1984 WHEREAS, the City of Decatur, 311inois, is a home rule u.-�it of local government as defined by, and having the powers enumerated in, Constitution of Illinois 1970, Article VII, Section 6 (a) ; and, WHEREAS, for the fiscal period for which levy is made hereby, the Council has duly appropriated amounts in excess of said levy for the objects and purposes shown by the copy of the Appropriation Ordinance hereto attached and hereby made a part heYeof. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATTJR, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That there is hereby levied upon all the taxable property within the corporate limits of the City of Decatur, Illinois, as the same is taxed and equalized for State and County purposes for the fiscal year beginning with the lst day of May, 1983, and ending on the 30th day of Ap•ril, 1984 , the sum of Four Million One Hundred Seventy Two Thousand Two Hundred Seventy Dollars ($4, 172, 270) the objects and purposes for which said sum is hereby levied and is apportioned among the several objects and purposes herein specified as follows: cor the aperation of Public Library Reading Rooms to be known as the Library Fund $1, 347, 500 For Police Pensions, as required by law 643, 803 � For Firemen' s Pension, as required by law 834, 399 For employment of a Municipal Band for Municipal Purposes 43, 264 For Street Purposes, to be reduced or abated by the County Clerk as provided by law, for street construction 250, 000 For the purpose of Police Protection in the City of Decatur, Illinois, to pay salaries to 33 police 600, 000 For City contribution to Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, as required by law 353, 304
