HEALY
JERRY FINNEY TELEPHONE 428-6629
September 24, 1980
Mr. Leslie Allen, City Manager
City of Decatur
707 E. Wood Street
Decatur, IL 62523
Dear Mr. Allen:
As I am sure you are aware, Decatur Housing Authority is in the process
of acquiring 43 scattered sites throughout the City for one of its projects.
Pursuant to this process, we had contracted with a Mr. Edmund P. McConnell
for him to sell us his property located at 459 E. King Street, Decatur, Illinois
and described as follows:
Lot Eight (8), Block Two (2) in Durfee Warren & Co. 's
2nd Addition to the City of Decatur, Illinois as per
Plat recorded in Book 50 Page 371 of the Records in
the Recorder's Office of Macon County, Illinois .
Our purchase price was to be $1,800.00. In checking on this property,
I discovered that when Mr. McConnell received title on March 10, 1972,
there had been two liens to the City of Decatur. In june of 1975, the City
filed a petition to demolish the house. The City then filed a petition in
June, 1978 (78-CH-41) and received a judgment against Mr. McConnell. On
january 21, 1980 there were Sheriff's deeds transferring title to this property
to the City of Decatur.
We are still interested in purchasing this property from the City for
$1,800.00, a s established by H.U.D. appraisers. I would greatly appreciate
hearing from you and receiving information as to the proper authorities to con-
tact with regard to this possible sale.
Thank you very much for your attention in this matter.
Very tnly yours,
CORD, HEALY & FINNEY
Lr'-.,>..,-- /`U..-v----..
JWR:dm .
