<br /> SECTION II . DEFINITIONS
<br /> For the purpose of this Ordinance, certain terms and words are herewith
<br /> defi ned as fol 1 o��rs :
<br /> ldords us2d in the presert tense include the future ; words in the singuiar
<br /> number include the plural , and words in the plural number include the singular;
<br /> the word "building" includes the word "structure" , the word "shall " , is
<br /> mandatory and not directory.
<br /> 70. RESIDE"lTIAL CARE FACILITY: Any facility, other thon a foster home, rouo
<br /> home (5 or less ) , or nrou� home (6 to 12) , wether operated for profit or
<br /> . not, which through ownershi � or r�anacement provides residential care to one
<br /> or more persons wno are not related by blood or marriage to either tne owner
<br /> or operator, or one of them, of such facility, or any classification of such
<br /> facilities as defined in the Minimum Standards , Rules and Re,ulations , as
<br /> amended, or the Department of Public Health of the State of Iilinois , that
<br /> provides supervised re.sidential care for a person , or persons , who because
<br /> or" aae, physical or mental disability, emotional or behaviora; disorder, or
<br /> mental retardation, are incapable of managing their person, whether or not
<br /> under conservatorship or guardianship. Residential care facility includes
<br /> but is not limited to, among otherS , the following: nursing homes , shelter
<br /> care h�mes , halfway houses , specialized residential care facilities, special- �
<br /> ized living centers , rehab�litation homes , and detention homes �or either
<br /> juveniles or adults , or both.
<br /> 73. GROUP HOME {5 or Less ) : A hone or other r�sidertial buildinq which is
<br /> licensed, certified, or otherwise reeulated b the tate of Illinois , or
<br /> some departmer�t, division or bureau thereof, where not more than five 5)
<br /> handicapped persor,s « chi dre�n resice , to�ether w�in suc. sta� anc; suoer-
<br /> visory oersonnei that r�ay 5e reQuired � state laws or rea�:lations .
<br /> 74. GROUP HOME (12 to 6) : .A home or other residential buildin� which is licensed ,
<br /> certified, or other��ise re uiated b tne State of Illinois or some departmenz,
<br /> division or bureau thereof, where rot less than six 5 but no more th�n
<br /> �welve 12 handicaDped persons ch� ren resi e;� 'toaet��er �ntn suc, staff
<br /> and suoervisory oersonnel that nay be rec�u�•re y sta�e �aws or re�;u ations .
<br /> 75. HAP�DICAPPED PERSO";S: Fersons of any aqe who by reason of severe or
<br /> persistent mental , emotional , or physical d;'sabilitv or develoomental
<br /> disability experience a levQl or impaired tunctionir,q relative to the
<br /> orimary asaects or" daiiy livinq. - �
<br /> 76. CHiLDREN: Persons who are 17 vears of a�e or less .
