STREET EXCAVATION AND RESTOR.ATION SPECIFICATIONS <br /> l. PROSECUTION OF EXCAVATION i�ORK <br /> Once permitted excavation work is scheduled, it shall be <br /> continuous until the opening is backfilled and the surface <br /> properly restored. <br /> 2. OPENINGS IN NEW STREETS <br /> Openings made where new streets or pavements are being or <br /> have been constructed will be inspected by the Director of Public <br /> Works and must meet all requirements of the specifications <br /> for excavating and backfilling as stated in the contract or <br /> contracts for the new street construction. A permit will not <br /> be issued for openings in new pavements for a period of three <br /> (3) years after the date of completion, except in emergencies <br /> due to leaking or broken water, gas, or sewer lines, or in case <br /> of undue hardship to a property owner. New pavements may be <br /> opened only on written authority from the City Manager. <br /> 3. . TRENCHING <br /> Whenever culverts, sewers , manholes, valve chambers, <br /> catch basin connections, watermains , gas pipe or electric <br /> conduits, or house connections thereto, or any type of subsurface <br /> facilities are exposed in excavating, the permittee s�all, <br /> at his own expense, protect them from damage. In all cases <br /> where an opening is to be located under or near any railroad, <br /> or in any way jeopardizes the safe operation of railroad <br /> equipment or any sub-surface f.acility, the permittee shall <br /> tif the owner or o erator thereof sufficientl in advance <br /> no p Y <br /> Y <br /> of the date on which opening is to be made. The entire cost of <br /> supporting and maintaining tracks or other facility and the <br /> entire cost of services necessary for safe operation of railroad <br /> or street railway equipment, shall be borne b� the permittee. <br /> No obstructions o� any nature shall be placed upon the tracks. <br /> ��t� shall use all necessary precautions to protect <br /> persons and/or property from injury and/or damage. <br /> Barricades and sufficient warning lights shall be placed <br />
