I <br /> shall fully conform to AWWA �800 , Figures 2 and 3, Tables 2 <br /> and 3 (Flared Copper Service Connections) ; or they shall be <br /> compression connections as d scribed below for service lines <br /> larger than one inch. Corpo ation stops , curb stops , and couplings <br /> for service lines larger tha one inch shall be provided only <br /> with compression connections specifically designed for use with <br /> copper service pipe for dire t burial, flared copper service <br /> connections, or silver solde ed joints . No other types of solder <br /> joints are permitted. Spuds and nuts of said compression <br /> connections shall be cast of ASTM B62 bronze with all threads and <br /> b earing surfaces accurately achined; and so designed that the <br /> joint is properly made when he nut is tightened to the point <br /> where it contacts a machined shoulder on the spud, thereby providing <br /> for a final visual inspectio without need for torque wrenches <br /> or guesswork. Compression c nnection sealing gaskets shall be <br /> totally confined to prevent old flow or creep and shall contain <br /> an integral hardened stainle s steel gripper band that is • <br /> comp ressed by the gasket to rovide high resistance to pull <br /> out forces caused by line pr ssure, back�filling, ground settlement, <br /> or accidental disturbance fr m digging equipment.
