� <br /> : � <br /> CHAPTER 9 <br /> FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> 1. The Fire Department is hereby created and shall consist <br /> of the Fire Chief and such other officers and employees as may be <br /> from time to time authorized by the Council . <br /> 2 . The office of the Fire Chief is hereby created. The Fire <br /> Chief shall be the Director of the Fire Department with such duties <br /> and authority as may be assigned or delegated by the City P�anager <br /> who shall appoint or remove said officer. <br /> 3. The Fire Chief, under the general supervision of the City <br /> t�Zanager, may promulgate reasonable rules and regulations not in <br /> conflict with law or ordinance to govern the operations of said <br /> Department which shall be binding upon the officers or employees <br /> of the City assigned thereto. <br /> 4 . The Fire Department may be organized into such divisions <br /> as the City Manager may designate. <br /> 5 . The Fire Department is designated the primary department <br /> having jurisdiction of and responsibility for fire suppression, <br /> fire prevention, fire cause and origin determination, arson detection <br /> and investigatior., the rescue of persons , and special services <br /> including first aid and emergency transportation for persons ill <br /> or injured. <br /> 6 . When it is so authorized ard ordered by the City Manager <br /> in case cf emergency or disaster or other nesd determined by said <br /> Manager, members of the Fire Departmer_t shall have the duty to assist <br /> the Folice Department in such manner as they may be directed so to do. <br /> In the performance of said duty the members of said Department shall <br /> have the usual power and authcrity of, and durir.g said time they are <br /> l:ereby designated Peace O�ficers , and shall enforce the provisions <br /> of law an3 ordinance thereas by arrest or otherwise. <br /> 7. No person shall use any motor vehicle, equipment, <br /> appurtenant, tool or apparatus of the City assigned to the Fire <br /> Department for any private purpose , or tamper with, rer�ove , damage, or <br /> deface tl�e same , or interfere with the use of the same by members <br /> of the Department or ot�ers authorized so to do. Any person who <br /> viol3tes anv provisions of this Section shall upon con�iction tnereof <br /> be fined not to exceed $500 . 00 . <br />
