I 9 <br /> ORDINANCE CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR A <br /> MUNICIPAL PRIMARY ELECTION <br /> TO BE HELD FEBRUARY 22 , 1977 <br /> WHEREAS, by operation of law the respective terms of three <br /> in the Office of Councilman expire April 30 , 1977; and, <br /> WHEREAS, by reason of resignation submitted November 19 , 1976 , <br /> to become effective May l, 1977 , there has been the occurrence of a <br /> vacancy in the Office of Mayor; and, <br /> WHEREAS, as of May 1 , 1977, there will remain a balance of two <br /> years in the term of the Office of Mayor; and, <br /> WHEREAS , it is found by the Council to be desirable and in the <br /> best interests of the City that the Office of Mayor be filled for the <br /> balance of said unexpired term by election in lieu of appointment. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> DECATUR, ILLINOIS : <br /> Section l. That a Municipal primary election to be held pursuant <br /> to law be, and the same is hereby, called to be held in and for the <br /> City of Decatur, Illinois, on the 22nd day of February, 1977, for the <br /> purpose of nominating the following: <br /> Two (2) for the Office of Mayor of said City, <br /> for an unexpired term; and, <br /> Six (6) for the Office of Councilman of said <br /> City, for regular terms. - <br /> Section 2. That the time for filing with the City Clerk of <br /> Statements of Candidacy, Nominating Petitions and other required docu- <br /> ments for candidates for said Offices in said primary and the general <br /> election subsequent thereto, shall be the regular business hours of the <br /> Office of the City Clerk of 8 :00 A.M. to 5 :00 P.M. , Monday through <br /> Friday, commencing Wednesday, December 15, 1976 , and ending Nfonday, <br /> December 27, 1976 , with the last day for withdrawal thereof being <br /> Monday, January 3, 1977. <br /> Section 3. That the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, authorized <br /> and directed to give notice by publication of the time for filing <br /> as set out in Section 2 . hereof. <br /> Section 4. That the legal voters of said City shall vote in <br /> their respective election precincts as now or as hereafter established <br /> in which they reside and at the polling place shown for each respective <br /> precinct as set out in the list thereof hereto attached and made a part <br /> hereof and marked List of Polling Places and Addresses Thereof. <br />
