JANES <br /> AND OTHERS, all of whom are the owners of all property abutting <br /> the reon, requesting vacation by the City Council of a portion of <br /> that certain street in the City of Decatur, Illinois, commonly <br /> known as South Main Street, said portion of said street being more <br /> particularly described as: <br /> Beginning at a point 145.7 feet East and 19.8 feet North <br /> of the Southwest corner of Lot 7 of the Subdivision o£ the <br /> NE 4 of NE 4 of Sect ion 22, Town ship I6 North, Range 2 East <br /> of the 3rd P.M. , as per Plat recorded in Book 22 pa ge 147 <br /> of the Records in the Recorder 's Office of Macon County, <br /> Ill�noi.s; thence NoYthwesterly 170.4 feet to a point on the <br /> southerly right-of-way line of the Illinois Central Railroad, <br /> 210 feet nor�theast of the southwest corner of said Lot 7, thence <br /> northeast along the R.O.W, line of the railroad 79.0 feet, thence <br /> southeasterly 234.2 feet to the point of beginning. <br /> and, <br /> ��EIERFAS, the Decatur City Plan Commission held a public hearing <br /> upon said petition on August 2, 1973, and did thereafter recommend to <br /> the Council that the prayer of said petition be granted and said por- <br /> tion of said street be vacated as requested; and, <br /> Wf-I�REAS, said portion of said street although originally laid out <br /> as a street within a subdivision of the City of Deca�ur, Illinois, upon <br /> the relocation and widening of South Main Street some years ago said por- <br /> tion of said street was abandoned for ,�se as a street by the City and <br /> since that time has not been opened or improved as a public street ; an d, <br /> Z+1F�REAS, said portion of said street is no longer useful to the pub- <br /> lic or to the City or to the owners os property abutting thereon as a <br /> street; and, <br /> WI-IEREAS, the public interest wi11 be subserved by vacating said por- <br /> tion of said street and the public will be relieved from any further bur- <br /> den or responsib ility for opening, improving or maintaining said portion <br /> of said street. <br />
