S O/ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE �NING ORDINANCE - M-2 HEAVY INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT - EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES WI-�REAS, the Decatur City Plan Commission on May 4, 1972, � after notice as required by law and ordinance held a public hear- ing upon the petition of theCorporation Counsel of the City to amend the Special Use Regula tions of the Zoning Ordinance, the same ', being Ordinance No. 3512, as amended, to provide therein for the use of lands within the City for extractive industrial purposes; and � WF�REAS, said Decatur City Plan Commission did recomrnend that the prayer of said petition be granted and the ordinance amende:d as so proposed. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY 1HE CdUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR� ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the report and recommendation of the Decatur City plan Commission be received, placed on file and approved. Section 2. That the Zoning Ordinance of theCity of Decatur, Illinois, the same being Ordinance No. 3512, passed February 8, 1960, as the same has been heretofore amended be, and the sarne is hereby, amended at Section XVI M-2 Heavy Industrial District B. Use Regula- tions, by adding after the word Department the cw rds as follows: ", or upon compliance with other applicable provi- sions of this ordinance: " and by adding after Item 11 thereof the following: "12. Extractive Uses such as the excavation, re- maval, stripping, surface mining, or quarrying of top soil, soil, earth, sand, rock, gravel, clay, coal, minerals, ores or similar substances; or, the surface location of shafts, mine heads and similar facilities �or the sub-surface removal of such substances; or, the drilling for, exploration for or production of oil, gas, or other liquid gaseous substances. "
