: ✓M � ORDINANCE NO. ��b AN ORDIAIANCE CHANGING DFsSIGNATION AND REGULATING USE OF PUBLIC WAY -- 90UTH STATE STREET WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Decatur, Illinois, pur- suant to the provisions of applicable statute, is authorized to name, to cha)re the name of, to designate and regulate the use of any street, avenue, alley or other public way within the corporate limits of the City of Decatur; and WHEREAS, the demolition of older structures, the remodeling of existing structures, and the construction of new structures and facilities on either side of that certain public way in the City com- monly known a� South State Street between East Main Street and East Wood Street has changed the character and use of said public way; and WHEI�AS, by reason of the matters set out aforesaid herein the use of said portion of said public way has ceased to provide a principal means of access to abutting property and the same has become a secondary means of access to said property; and WHEREAS, the consequent confusion and congestion of vehicular traffic on said portion of said public way and on certain portions of streets in the near vicinity thereof the alleviatio n whereof may be furthered by designating said portion of said public way an alley. NOW THEREFORE, Bfi IT ORDAINED BY THE OOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DfiCATUR, ILLINOIS: Section l. That until further order of the Council the por- tion of the public way aforesaid be, a nd the same is hereby, designa- ted an alley. Section 2. That until further order of the Cauncil such desig- nation of said portion of said public way be, and the same is here by, authorized v�ierever the same may be appropriate. Section 3. That until further order of the Council those provi- sions of the City Code includin g among others the provisions of Chapter 30 thereof, .particularly those provisions of Part III entit led "Public Ways" insofar as the same are applicable to alleys be, and the same are he reby, made applicable to said portion of said public way.
