Item Coversheet Page 1 of 2 ' <br /> � <br /> Water Management <br /> DATE: 10/10/2016 <br /> MEMO: 2016-14 <br /> TO: Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason,City Manager <br /> Keith Alexander,Director of Water Management <br /> Jerry Stevens,P.E.,Engineering Services Coordinator <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> South Water Treatment Plant Security Camera Upgrade <br /> City Project 2016-38 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> City Council approve the attached Resolution awarding the South Water Treatment Plant Security Camera Upgrade Contract to <br /> Bodine Communications in the amount of$79,342.00. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The South Water Treatment Plant(SWTP)and Lake Decatur dam have a 15-year-old low resolution analog camera surveillance <br /> system that is extremely out of date. Vandalism has become a growing problem around the Lake Office,SWTP lime residual <br /> lagoons and bulk water sales facility on Lincoln Park Drive near the dam. This project would upgrade the current system to high <br /> definition digital technology and add over 20 cameras to these locations: <br /> South Water Treatment Plant <br /> SWTP lime residual lagoons <br /> Lake Decatur dam <br /> Lincoln Park Drive <br /> Lake Office <br /> The improved security camera system will help to ensure the safety and integrity of our residents,water supply and public <br /> infrastructure. It will also greatly assist the Decatur Police Department with criminal investigations. The cameras will be merged <br /> into and monitored by the present City wide camera surveillance system that the City's MIS Division administers. The MIS <br /> Division will also be assisting with equipment installation and purchasing additional video replication and display equipment for <br /> this project. Some sites may require new 120 volt electrical installations to be provided by Bodine Communications and Ameren <br /> Illinois as needed. <br /> Proposals for the project were received by two firms with the following costs: <br /> Bodine Communications$79,342.00 <br /> Heart Technologies $83,735.79 <br /> Bodine Communications has performed many successful projects for the City and is recommended for this contract award.
