PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM <br /> NO. 2016-65 <br /> DATE: October 7, 2016 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager <br /> Richard G. Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Removing No Parking Restriction on the North Side of the 2200 Block <br /> of East Logan Street <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing on-street parking on the north <br /> side of the 2200 block of East Logan Street as recommended by the Traffic and Parking Commission. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> September 22, 2016—Traffic and Parking Commission voted to recommend allowing on-street <br /> parking on the north side of the 2200 block of East Logan Street, which was requested by Mr. John <br /> Sobottka who owns Topkat Cleaning at 2218 E. Logan Street. A petition was signed by many of the <br /> other businesses on the street supporting the parking restriction being lifted. Parking was allowed on <br /> the north side of the street on a temporary basis since July and no objections have been raised. This <br /> ordinance will permanently remove the parking restriction. No Parking signs will remain on the south <br /> side of the street. <br /> SCHEDULE: Removal of the signs is normally completed within 10 days of Council authorization. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Staffing Impact: Approximately 1 hour of staff time will be used to remove the current No Parking <br /> signs on the north side of the street. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: No objections anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director and Matt Newell, City Engineer, at <br /> 424-2747.
