PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM NO. 2016-65 DATE: October 7, 2016 TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council Members FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager Richard G. Marley, P.E., Public Works Director SUBJECT: Ordinance Removing No Parking Restriction on the North Side of the 2200 Block of East Logan Street SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing on-street parking on the north side of the 2200 block of East Logan Street as recommended by the Traffic and Parking Commission. BACKGROUND: September 22, 2016—Traffic and Parking Commission voted to recommend allowing on-street parking on the north side of the 2200 block of East Logan Street, which was requested by Mr. John Sobottka who owns Topkat Cleaning at 2218 E. Logan Street. A petition was signed by many of the other businesses on the street supporting the parking restriction being lifted. Parking was allowed on the north side of the street on a temporary basis since July and no objections have been raised. This ordinance will permanently remove the parking restriction. No Parking signs will remain on the south side of the street. SCHEDULE: Removal of the signs is normally completed within 10 days of Council authorization. BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Staffing Impact: Approximately 1 hour of staff time will be used to remove the current No Parking signs on the north side of the street. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: No objections anticipated. Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item.
