Excerpts from the Traffic & Parking Commission Meeting September 22, 2016 Item #1 Request for removal of no parking signs along the north side of the 2200 block of E. Logan Street. City staff received a request from a business owner along the 2200 block of E. Logan Street to remove the "No Parking" signs along the north side of the road to allow for on-street parking. The width of the street is approximately 44 feet which would be more than enough to allow for two-way traffic along with the parking on the north side. The street is used as a route for semis to get to and from 22°d Street and Garfield Avenue. Parking on the north side of the street should not impede traffic's ability to turn on or off the street. The requestor was asked to circulate a petition to the other property owners along the street to see if they would have any objections. The petitions with signatures showing support was attached to the agenda for members to review. Back in July a request was made to the police department to temporarily lift the parking restrictions in this location before it has a chance to go through Traffic & Parking Commission. Parking was allowed shortly after that with no issues being reported. This request will make parking permanent. City staff recommends removing the parking restrictions along the north side of the 2200 block of E. Logan Street. Jared Broderick motioned to move forward with the removing the parking restrictions along the north side of the 2200 block of E. Logan Street. Seconded by Joselyn Stewart, and on call of the roll, Commission Members Broderick, Newell, Hurst, Wigginton and Stewart voted aye. The chairman declared the motion carried.
