That the City Code of the City of Decatur, <br /> Illinois, at Chapter 62 thereof entitled "Taxi Cabs" and in sec- <br /> tion 11 of said chapter be, and the same is hereby amended so that <br /> said Section 11 as amended shall provide� <br /> �, <br /> 11. Nc vehicle shall be licensed until it has been � <br /> exa�i.ned at an official testing station licensed by <br /> the State of Illinois and a certificate of safety <br /> issued thereon and said vehicle is clean, of good <br /> appearance, well painted, equipped with a taxi meter <br /> and so constructed that the occupants can be plain- <br /> 1y seen from the outside of said vehicle at all times. <br /> Each such vehicle shall be so tested semi-annually <br /> and a report of such test shall be filed in the office <br /> of the City Clerk. After any accident involving a <br /> taxi cab, the Chief of Police may require that said <br /> taxi eab again be t�sted at such official testing sta- <br /> tion. 1'!ie City Manager upon recommendation of the <br /> Chief ef Police may revoke or suspend the license of <br /> any taxi cab not inspected and certified as herein <br /> provided or any taxi cab which upon being tested as <br /> aforesaid fails to qualify for a certificate of safety <br /> or is found to be unclean, not of good appearance, not <br /> well painted or not equipped with a taxi meter. Li- <br /> censes when so suspended or revok.�d shall not bc re- <br /> issued until said taxi cab is made to canform with the <br /> provisions of this Chapter. <br /> Section 2. That said City Code at said Chapter 62 be, <br /> an d the same is here by, amended so that subparagraph (a) of Sec- <br /> tion 16 thereof as amended shall provide: <br /> (a) Every taxi cab operated on the streets of the <br /> City shall have installed therein an operating taxi- <br /> meter which has been inspected and found to be accur- <br /> a�e and in compliance with the provisions of this <br /> Chapter. A taxi meter shall be deemed to be accurate <br /> if the distance registered thereby is within 5�b of the <br /> neasured test distance traveled by said taxi cab. <br /> Section 3. That said City Code at said Chapter 62 be, <br /> and the sam� is hereby, amended so that subparagraph (e) of Sec- <br /> tion 18 as a�ended shall provide: <br /> (e) Waiting time shall be charg�d at the rate of � <br /> thirty (30�) cents for each two minutes of waiting 'i <br /> or fraction thereof, said waiting time beginning ' <br /> t� minutes after the arrival at the place to which <br /> said taxi cab has been called, or the time consumed <br /> while standing at the direct ion of the passenger, <br /> but no chazge shall be made for tiane lost because of <br /> the i.nefficiency of the taxicab or its operator, or <br /> time consumed by premature response to a call or fro�n <br /> any cause for vai�ich the passenger is not responsible. <br />
