-5- <br /> sewers at selected locations, city standard manholea, concrete encased 8 inch <br /> vitrified drop connections at drop manholes, improved street s�urface restoration <br /> to the specifications included; protection, care and replacement of all existing <br /> •underground and above ground utilities in the lineup, or near, said improvements; <br /> and all nece:�.�ary app�urtenances thereto required to complete the sanitary aewer <br /> sy�tem. . <br /> The slopes of all gravity sanitary sewera are given in percentage and all <br /> sections have a uniform grade. No sewer shall have a flow velocity of lesa than <br /> 2. 5 feet per second and none shall have a flow velocity exceeding 12 feet per second. <br /> Minimum and macimum grades are 0. 5% and 5. 18°jo respectively. <br /> The pipes and fittings for the sanitary sewer system are to be first <br /> quality vitrified clay complying to the latest standarda of the American Society of <br /> Testing Materials, Designation C-200 or C-278 or the latest addition thereto. <br /> Vitrified clay sewers are to be laid on an even, firm bed throughout the <br /> full length of the barrel so that no uneven strain will come on any pipe, and <br /> partic•ular care will be exercised to prevent the pipes bearing on the sockets or <br /> bells. Excavations shall be carefully made to receive the bells. Each pipe is to <br /> be laid in conformity with the line and levels therefor, and in the presence of an <br /> inspector from the City of Decatur Engineering Division. The socket end of all <br /> pipe is to be laid upgrad.e. The spigot end of the next pipe shall be inserted <br /> into the socket end of the lower pipe until the face of the spigot comes into contact . <br /> with the shoulder of the pipe all around. This spigot end shall be supported with <br /> sufficient jointing material to make the flow lines of the two pipes coincide at the <br /> joints. <br /> Tee-branches or wye-branches for house connections are to be vitrified <br /> clay pipe 4 inches in diameter, equal in quality and dimensions to that heretofore <br />
