1/17/2017 Item Coversheet <br /> fl <br /> Police Department <br /> DATE: 1/17/2017 <br /> MEMO: 17-03 <br /> TO: Honorable Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council <br /> FROM: Timothy A.Gleason,City Manager <br /> James E.Getz Jr.,Chief of Police <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing Termination of Intergovernmental Agreement—Decatur/Macon County Dispatching Services <br /> for Calendar Years 2016-2019. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It would be the recommendation of staff that the Decatur/Macon County <br /> Intergovernmental Dispatching agreement be terminated. <br /> BACKGROUND: The City of Decatur and Macon County are in the process of analyzing and negotiating a possible <br /> communication center agreement which would take the place of the current agreement.The goal is to provide a more efficient <br /> communication center to the citizens of Decatur and Macon County while not increasing the costs to the City of Decatur.The <br /> current agreement requires the City of Decatur to provide a three hundred sixty-five(365)day notice in writing to the County of <br /> Macon to terminate the agreement. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: The City of Decatur entered into an agreement with the County of Macon to provide call taking, <br /> dispatching,and radio communication services to Macon County on June 15,2015. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None Anticipated. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: James E.Getz Jr.,Chief of Police,424-2741,jgetzjr@decaturil.gov <br /> https.//decatur.novusagenda.com/agendaWeb/CoverSheet.aspx?ltemlD=1003 1/1 <br />
