Item Coversheet Page 1 of 1 <br /> in <br /> Mass Transit <br /> DATE: 5/26/2017 <br /> MEMO: 032017 <br /> TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason,City Manager <br /> John Williams,Transit Administrator <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution to Authorize application and execution of Technical Assistance grant contract with the Illinois Department <br /> of Transportation. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: To adopt a resolution authorizing the application and execution of the technical <br /> assistance grant contract with the Illinois Department of Transportation. <br /> BACKGROUND: A technical assistance grant application has been submitted to Illinois Department of Transportation.The <br /> purpose of the grant is to obtain funding to allow for a comprehensive study of transit operations.The study will include an <br /> evaluation of routes,scheduling,frequency of service,the possibility of additional service to potentially include late night and <br /> Sunday service and ways to increase ridership.The last transit study was completed in 2001. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: None. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: John Williams,Mass Transit Administrator,at jwilliams@decaturil.gov or 424-2820 <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: It is anticipated the total cost of the study may be around$90,000.There is reimbursement <br /> for the study up$75,000 through this grant.
