ORDINANCE NO. 2024-[10 <br /> ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CONSUMPTION OF <br /> ALCOHOLIC LIQUOR IN CENTRAL PARK <br /> -DECATUR AREA ARTS COUNCIL- <br /> -ARTS IN CENTRAL PARK 2024- <br /> WHEREAS, the Decatur Area Arts Council has planned its "Arts in Central Park 2024" <br /> event, for the following dates in Central Park, Friday, September 20, 2024 (Preview Party), <br /> Saturday, September 21, 2024 and Sunday, September 22, 2024; and, <br /> WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Decatur Area Arts Council to serve wine to its <br /> patrons age 21 and older for consumption at the preview party on Friday, September 20, 2024 <br /> and to offer alcoholic beverages for sale to its patrons 21 and older for consumption on Saturday, <br /> September 21, 2024 and Sunday, September 22, 2024; and, <br /> WHEREAS, such consumption of alcoholic liquor in Central Park requires the express <br /> approval of the City Council; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Council finds that it would be in the best interest of the Decatur Area <br /> Arts Council and of the City of Decatur that such consumption of alcoholic liquor as described <br /> be permitted for said limited time period. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That on the days listed herein, and only on such days,between the hours listed <br /> opposite each, alcoholic beverages may be consumed in Central Park located in downtown <br /> Decatur, said days and hours being particularly described as follows: <br /> Friday, September 20, 2024 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. <br /> Saturday, September 21, 2024 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. <br /> Sunday, September 22, 2024 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. <br /> Section 2. That no alcoholic beverage may be consumed as provided herein unless such <br /> alcoholic beverage is in a plastic or paper cup. <br /> Section 3. That this ordinance is expressly conditioned and approved upon Decatur Arts <br /> Council providing to the City of Decatur an agreement which will hold the City of Decatur <br /> harmless for any and all damages incurred by persons attending this event and indemnifying the <br /> City for any and all damages and lawsuits. <br /> Section 4. That except as otherwise provided herein, the provisions of Section 34(a) of <br /> Chapter 52 of the City Code remain in full force and effect. <br />
