RESOLUTION NO. R2014-.42 <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING <br /> ILLINOIS ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY <br /> TO REQUIRE A LOCAL SITING HEARING <br /> FOR CLINTON LANDFILL, INC. LANDFILL#3 <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That the Mahomet Aquifer is the primary water supply for approximately <br /> 509,000 Central Illinois citizens and a significant emergency water supply for the City of <br /> Decatur. <br /> Section 2. That Clinton Landfill, Inc. operates Landfill #3 in DeWitt County, Illinois that <br /> is directly above the Mahomet Aquifer. <br /> Section 3. That the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to require <br /> the DeWitt County Board to conduct a local siting hearing for Landfill#3. <br /> Section 4. That in order to protect the integrity of the Mahomet Aquifer, the Decatur City <br /> Council requests that the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency require the DeWitt County <br /> Board to conduct a local siting hearing for Landfill#3 as soon as possible. <br /> Section 5.
