ORDINANCE NO. 2016.-17 ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY CODE -CHAPTER 29— -ADMINISTRATIVE ADJUDICATION OF OFFENSES— BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR,ILLINOIS: Section l. That Section 9 of Chapter 29 of the City Code of the City of Decatur, Illinois, be, and the same are hereby modified and amended, so that Section 9 as so modified and amended, shall provide as follows: 9.PENALTIES A. The penalties in addition to costs to be imposed by the hearing officer for violations of the various codes are shown in Table 29-1 attached hereto. B. The maximum monetary fine under this subsection shall be exclusive of the costs of enforcement or the costs imposed to secure compliance with the City Code and shall not be applicable to cases to enforce the collection of any tax imposed and collected by the City. C. If requested and available,the fine imposed may be substituted for a proportionate number of community service hours. One(1)hour of community service is equal to ten dollars ($10.00). Community service programs will be assigned by the hearing officer with a date to return for the completion of the community service. Failure to complete community service by the date ordered or failing to appear at the return date will constitute a waiver of community service and the original fine will be imposed. Section 2. That the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, authorized and directed to cause the provisions hereof to be appropriately set out in the City Code and to cause the same to be published in pamphlet form according to law.
