ORDINANCE NO. Q a _g� ,MICROfJL�11j�� <br /> � <br /> ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN <br /> ILLINOIS FIRE PROTECTION ACT PROGRAMS <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Decatur desires to participate in the <br /> programs authorized and administered under the Illinois Fire <br /> Protection Training Act, as amended; and, <br /> WHEREAS, to be eligible for such participation applicable <br /> law provides that participating local governmental agencies <br /> shall require that before an individual may commence regular <br /> employment as a fire fighter such individual must have been <br /> certified as having successfully completed an approved training <br /> course; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City intends to establish its own school or <br /> to utilize some other school certified for the purpose of pro- <br /> viding the training required under said Act. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That participation by the City in the programs <br /> authorized by and administered under the Illinois Fire Protection <br /> Training Act be, and the same is hereby, elected. <br /> Section 2 . That before an individual may commence regular <br /> employment as a fire fighter of the City, such individual shall <br /> .have been certified under the provisions of said Act as having <br /> successfully completed an approved training course thereunder. <br /> Section 3 . That the City Manager and the Civil Service <br /> Commission be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to <br /> cause the rules and regulations applicable to tire department <br /> personnel to be amended and modified so as to require that any <br /> person appointed to the fire service of the City shall not become <br /> a regular employee thereof unless and until completion of such ; <br /> approved training course and certification thereof within the one <br /> (1) year probationary period currently provided for initial <br /> appointment in the classified fire service.
