� � , <br /> •� ,��� <br /> ORDINANCE N0. � <br /> ORDINANCE VACATING A PORTION OF A STREET <br /> - WEST WILLIAM - <br /> , <br /> WHEREAS , a petition has been received from Millikin University, <br /> the owner of all property abutting thereon ,requesting vacation of a <br /> portion of that certain street in the City of Decatur, Illinois , <br /> commonly known as West William Street, said portion of said street being <br /> more particularly described as : <br /> Beginning at the Southwest Corner of Lot Eighteen (18) <br /> of Block Two (2) of Millikin' s Second Addition to the <br /> City of Decatur, as per plat recorded in Book 300 page <br /> 79 of the Records in the office of the Recorder of Macon <br /> County, Illinois, thence South a distance of Eighty (80) <br /> feet to the South line of West William Street; thence <br /> East to the Westerly right of way line of the Wabash <br /> Railroad; thence Northeasterly along said right of way <br /> line to the North line of West William Street; thence <br /> West along said North line of West Tn7illiam Street to <br /> the place of beginning; and <br /> WHEREAS , the Decatur City Plan Commission held a public hearing upon <br /> said petition on February 2 , 1979 and did thereafter recommend to <br /> the Council that the prayer of said petition be granted and said portion <br /> of said street be vacated as requested. <br /> WHEREAS , said po rtion of said street is no longer useful to the <br /> public or to the City or to the owners of property abutting thereon <br /> ar.d the public interest will be subserved by vacating said portion of <br /> said street and the public will be relieved from any further burden or <br /> responsibility for opening, improving or maintaining said portion of <br /> said street. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That the �abone described portion of said West William <br /> Street b�, a:d the same is hereby, vacated as a public street upon the <br /> exc�ptions and conditions hereinafter provided inasmuch as the same is <br /> no longer required for public use and the public interest will be subserved <br /> by such vacation, said portion of said street being shown on the plat <br /> thereof hereto attached and hereby made a part hereof. <br /> Section 2. That there is hereby reserved in, over, along and under <br /> the above c:escribed portion of said street, to the City of Decatur, <br />
