' „ <br /> . . 1/ <br /> .. <br /> ORDINANCE NO. `�.f�" <br /> ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CLOSING OF STREET <br /> TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC <br /> WHEREAS, that certain bridge in the City of Decatur, Illinois, <br /> spanning Stevens Cree k at a point on the center line of Section 33, <br /> Township 17 North, Range 2 East of the 3rd Principal Meridian, approxi- <br /> mately 1,050 feet south of the Northeast corner of the Southwest <br /> Quarter (SW 1/4) of said section, is in a poor state of repair and is <br /> not designed or constructed to carry modern traffic loads and is now <br /> dangerous and not possible to reasonably repair, and <br /> WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the City of Decatur, <br /> Illinois, are by statute authorized to construct, repair and regulate <br /> the use of bridges, and <br /> WHEREAS, the public interest will be subserved and the safety of <br /> the general public will be enhanced by the closing of said bridge to <br /> vehicular traffic, and <br /> WHEREAS. it is necessary and convenient to the public safety <br /> and is in the public interest to cause a portion of North Taylor Avenue <br /> on either side of said bridge to also be closed to vehicular traffic. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That North Taylor Avenue in the City of Decatur, <br /> Illinois, be, and the same is hereby, ordered closed from the south <br /> right-of-way line of S.B.I. Route 121 southerly a distance of 150 feet <br /> measured on the west right-of-way line of said North Taylor Avenue and <br /> the bridge located in said portion of said Avenue be, and the same is <br /> here by, ordered closed to vehicular traffic . <br /> Section 2. That the City Manager be, and he is he reby, authorized <br /> to cause said street and said bridge to be barricaded so as to give <br /> notice that the use thereof by vehicular traffic is prohibited and to <br />
