Williams,Mass Transit Administrator SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the Bid and Authorizing the Execution of a Contract with Kinney Contractors,Inc. for DPTS Concrete Bus Shelter Pad Improvement Project, City Project 2017-17 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for the Decatur Public Transit System (DPTS) Concrete Bus Shelter Pad Improvement Project, City Project 2017-17,to Kinney Contractors, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of $64,816 and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract and the City Clerk to attest. PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: No previous Council actions have been taken on this project. BACKGROUND: Project Description The DPTS Concrete Bus Shelter Pad Improvement Project is funded by a Federal Transit Administration grant provided to the City of Decatur Public Transit System for the improvement of the bus shelters that are heavily utilized, as determined by the number of passengers boarding and alighting. The purpose of the project is to replace the existing undersized concrete bus pads with larger pads to accommodate the new shelters and improve accessibility. The work includes removing the existing concrete pads along with sections of nearby sidewalks, and installing new concrete pads and connecting sidewalks. Following the construction, Decatur Public Transit staff will install the new bus shelters.
