Williams,Mass Transit Administrator <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the Bid and Authorizing the Execution of a Contract with <br /> Kinney Contractors,Inc. for DPTS Concrete Bus Shelter Pad Improvement <br /> Project, <br /> City Project 2017-17 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for <br /> the Decatur Public Transit System (DPTS) Concrete Bus Shelter Pad Improvement Project, City <br /> Project 2017-17,to Kinney Contractors, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of <br /> $64,816 and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> No previous Council actions have been taken on this project. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Project Description <br /> The DPTS Concrete Bus Shelter Pad Improvement Project is funded by a Federal Transit <br /> Administration grant provided to the City of Decatur Public Transit System for the improvement of <br /> the bus shelters that are heavily utilized, as determined by the number of passengers boarding and <br /> alighting. The purpose of the project is to replace the existing undersized concrete bus pads with <br /> larger pads to accommodate the new shelters and improve accessibility. The work includes <br /> removing the existing concrete pads along with sections of nearby sidewalks, and installing new <br /> concrete pads and connecting sidewalks. Following the construction, Decatur Public Transit staff <br /> will install the new bus shelters. <br /> Project Locations <br /> The proposed bus shelter pad reconstruction work will be conducted at the following locations (See <br /> attached location maps): <br /> Base Bid <br /> 1.
