Irons,Director of Neighborhood Services SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the Bid and Authorizing the Execution of a Contract with Kinney Contractors,Inc. for CDBG Sidewalk Improvement Project, City Project 2017-21 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for the CDBG Sidewalk Improvement Project, City Project 2017-21,to Kinney Contractors, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$397,047.50 and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract and the City Clerk to attest. PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: The last sidewalk improvement project funded by Community Development Block Grant(CDBG) funds was approved by the City Council on July 6, 2010. No previous Council actions have been taken on this project. BACKGROUND: Project Description The CDBG Sidewalk Improvement Project is funded by a Community Development Block Grant administered through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. The purpose of the project is to replace damaged sections of sidewalk and install sidewalk ramps in the Old King's Orchard and GM Square neighborhoods of the City as shown on the attached map. These areas meet the Federal requirements for the use of CDBG funds. Letting Results The project scope and specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division with input from the City's Neighborhood Services Department. The project was advertised on July 26 and August 2, 2017, and bids were opened on August 17, 2017. The results of the letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached): � 1 �
