Marley, P.E.,Public Works Director (�j A aJx->,� <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution to Appropriate Additional Motor Fuel Tax Funds to Pay the City's <br /> Portions of Construction Costs and Construction Engineering Costs for <br /> Improvements to Lake Shore Drive and 22"d Street(IL RTE 105) From Old Rte <br /> 51 to U.S. Rte 36 by Municipality Under Illinois Highway Code, City Project <br /> 2014-01, Section 14-00401-00-TL <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve,that the Mayor be authorized to execute, and the <br /> City Clerk to attest to the attached resolution appropriating an additional $8,185.30 in Motor Fuel <br /> Tax (MFT) Funds to pay the City's estimated share of the MFT eligible construction costs for a total <br /> MFT allocation of$128,185.30. The $128,185.30 represents $120,000.00 in expected MFT eligible <br /> costs plus $8,185.30 to provide some contingency for the project. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> May 19,2014—The City Council approved Resolution No. R2014-49 appropriating $120,000 in <br /> State Motor Fuel Tax Funds to pay the City's portion of an agreement with the State of Illinois for the <br /> improvement of Lake Shore Drive &22nd Street (IL Rt. 105) from Old Rt. 51 to Rt. 36, City Project <br /> 2014-01. <br /> May 19,2014—The City Council approved Resolution No. R2014-50 authorizing an agreement with <br /> the State of Illinois for improvements to Lake Shore Drive and 22nd Street(IL Rt. 105). The <br /> agreement is for $105,029. The agreement included a provision for the City to provide any additional <br /> funds necessary to cover the actual costs. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Lake Shore Drive & 22nd Street Pavement Improvement <br /> In January 2014,the City was informed by the Illinois Department of Transportation(IDOT) of their <br /> intention to complete a major street improvement along Illinois Route 105 between Old Route 51 and <br /> U.S. Route 36, which encompasses portions of Lake Shore Drive and 22nd Street in the City. The <br /> overall project included improvements to traffic signals on the Route along with milling off the <br /> existing pavement and overlaying the road with new asphalt. <br /> The portion of the work paid for by the City included: <br /> 1. Sidewalk ramp improvements on the side streets under City jurisdiction. <br /> Page 11 <br />
