Item Coversheet Page 1 of 2 <br /> in <br /> Financial Management <br /> DATE: 12/12/2017 <br /> MEMO: Letter to the City Council Financial Management Department#2017- 14 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason,City Manager <br /> Gregg Zientara,City Treasurer&Director of Finance <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Appropriating Additional Funds for Certain Departmental and Civil City Service Operations in Fiscal <br /> Year Ending December 31,2017 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached Ordinance. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> City Council passed the Annual Appropriation Ordinance 2017-10 on February 21,2017 for the purpose of defraying the expenses <br /> of several departments and funds of the City of Decatur for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2017 and ending December 31, <br /> 2017. <br /> It is now necessary to appropriate additional funds for operational expenditures necessary for the City to effect provision of <br /> services to its citizens which were not anticipated at the time the City Council adopted Ordinance 2017-10. <br /> Fund Amount Purpose <br /> Olde Towne TIF(#19) 1,500 Developer payment greater than planned <br /> Wabash Crossing TIF(#21) 44,000 Align tax district payments to current levy <br /> DUATS(#22) 10,000 General Fund reimbursement greater than planned <br /> Municipal Band(#36) 6,500 Unforeseen expense <br /> Risk Management(#64) 1,000,000 Claim settlements brought up to date <br /> Mass Transit(#70) 25,000 New MV position now budgeted <br /> Water(#80) 1,500,000 Additional transfer to capital <br /> Community Revitalization (#84) 300,000 Finalize use of fund not previously budgeted <br /> Police Pension(#91) 500,000 Unforeseen expense <br /> Total 3,387,000 <br /> The additional appropriations requested are within the cash position balances of each fund and present no adverse impact on <br /> overall City operations and fund balance positions. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this ordinance request. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> No input from other sources. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Tim Gleason,City Manager Gregg D.Zientara,City Treasurer&Director of Finance <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Approval of this ordinance will allow the City to secure appropriation spending authority for the full fiscal year expenditures for <br /> the funds identified in this ordinance. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> Description Type <br /> https:Hdecatur.novusagenda.com/AgendaWeb/CoverSheet.aspx?ItemID=1367 12/15/2017 <br />
