Item Coversheet Page I of 1 <br /> in <br /> Public Works <br /> DATE: 2/12/2018 <br /> MEMO: 2018-09 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason,City Manager <br /> Matthew C.Newell,P.E.,Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Authorizing the Installation of Stop Signs at the Intersection of East Redlich Drive and South Burgener <br /> Drive Facing South Burgener Drive. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing the installation of <br /> stop signs at the intersection of East Redlich Drive and South Burgener Drive facing South Burgener Drive. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On January 25,2018 the Traffic&Parking Commission approved a request from City staff recommending that stop signs be <br /> installed at the intersection of East Redlich Drive and South Burgener Drive with the stop signs facing South Burgener Drive. <br /> A resident notified City staff that the intersection of East Redlich Drive and South Burgener Drive has no current traffic control <br /> and has had multiple accidents. A city staff review indicates that there have been two accidents at this intersection within a three <br /> year period.According to traffic standards,based on the traffic volumes the accident rate is high enough to warrant stop signs. <br /> The Traffic&Parking Commission's recommendation is attached with the ordinance for Council's review. <br /> SCHEDULE: Stop signs are typically installed within 14 days of approval. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: None <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: No objections anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell,Public Works Director,and Griffin Enyart,Assistant City Engineer.Matt Newell,Public <br /> Works Director,will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: Budgetary impacts are approximately$250 for the installation of the requested signs and pavement markings. <br /> Staff Impact: Approximately 2 hours of staff time to make and install signs. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> Description Type <br /> 2018-09 Ordinance Ordinance <br /> 2018-09 Map Backup Material <br /> Traffic&Parking Excerpt Backup Material <br /> https:Hdecatur.novusagenda.com/AgendaWeb/CoverSheet.aspx?ItemID=1431 2/15/2018 <br />
