Excerpt from 4-26-2018 Traffic & Parking Commission Meeting Minutes
Item 91 Request for handicap parking sign for on-street parking space closest to 1001
North Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Griffin Enyart presented the case of a request made from the tenant of 1001 North Martin Luther
King Jr. Drive. Tenant lives in a handicap adaptable unit located on the side of the building
facing North Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Off-street parking exists behind the building with
handicap parking spaces but tenant would have to walk around the building to to get to their unit.
Proposed handicap parking spaces would be closer to unit and has a walkway from the street to
the sidewalk located on the passenger side of the parking space. While the unit may belong to
other tenants in the future who may not have handicap parking privileges, it will still serve a unit
more likely to have tenants who have handicap parking privileges
City staff recommends designating a handicap parking sign parking sign in the on-street parking
space closest to 1001 North Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Jeff Hott motioned to move forward with designating a handicap parking sign in the on-street
parking space closest to 1001 North Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Seconded by Ed Hurst, and
on call of the roll, Commission Members Broderick,Newell, Hurst, Hott and Stewart voted aye.
The chairman declared the motion carried.
