Contractors for City Projects shall comply with City Code Chapter 28, Article 10, "Minority <br /> Participation Goals for Public Works Contracts." <br /> Contractors for City projects shall make a good faith effort to comply with the following minimum <br /> goals: <br /> 1. Ten(10)percent of the total dollar amount of the contract should be performed by Minority <br /> Business Enterprises if subcontracting opportunities are available; and, <br /> 2. Eighteen (18)percent of the total hours worked should be performed by minority workers. <br /> Subcontracting is not required for a City project. Insituform sent solicitations for a subcontractor to <br /> perform televising and cleaning, estimating the work at 7%of the project. Insituform received two <br /> responses from minority contractors who could perform this work with one respondent providing a <br /> bid. That company's bid was estimated to be about twice the bid provided by Tele-Scan, a local non- <br /> MBE contractor that was selected to perform the work. The other MBE response was that the <br /> company did not have the capacity to bid at this time. This constitutes a good faith effort in meeting <br /> the City's minority business goals. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and bid award. <br /> LEGAL REVIEW: The project plans and specifications were approved by the Legal Department on <br /> May 30, 2018. <br /> SCHEDULE: The project will begin when a Notice to Proceed has been issued and is to be <br /> completed December 1, 2018. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: Funding for this project is allocated in the Sanitary Sewer Fund at $705,935.00 and <br /> Stormwater Fund at $48,942.50. <br /> The recommended low bid amount is $754,877.50.
