24.EMERGEI'dCY LIG�ITS: Emergency lights shall be required for all new <br /> constructian af public buildings as well as permit requiured renovatians in all cornman use restrooms, <br /> dressing rooms, and locker roarns. (1008.3.3 item 5 sha11 include all public restroorns regardless of <br /> size). <br /> 21. �+,iRE DEPARTM.ENT KEY BOXES <br /> (A} LTn3ess exempted by written order of the Decatur Fire Department, and in order to <br /> eliminate forced entries intg structures and to avoid costly and tirne-cansuming efforts in gaining <br /> access to locked structures during tirnes of emergency, the following structures shall be equipped <br /> with a key lock boK system at ar near the main entrance or at any other such location which may <br /> be required by the Fire Chief ar any other representative of the Fire Department: <br /> (1} All newly canstructed commerciai and industrial structures and places of assembly <br /> pratected by an automatic fire alarrn system or automatic suppression system or any such <br /> structure secured in a nnanner that restricts access during an ernergency; <br /> (2} All newly constructed multi-family residential s#ructures that have restricted access <br /> through locked doors and have a common corridor for access to the living quarters; <br /> (3) All newly canstructed health care facilities; and <br /> (4) All existing structures undertaking additions, alterations ar repairs which shall cause <br /> the same to conform with the then current provisians of any of the building or property <br /> maintenance codes adopted by tl�e City. <br /> (B) All structures subject hereta shall be required to install a key lock box system prior to <br /> the issuance of any occupancy perrnit which shall then be functional at all times thereafter. <br /> (C) The Fire Chief shall designate the type of key lock box system to be implemented and <br /> shall have the authority to require all structures to use the designated system. <br /> {D} The awner ar aperator af any structure subject hereto shall, at all times, keep a key in <br /> the lock box that will permit access to the structure. <br />
